10 Months Old

You know that song, “All I want for Christmas is my two front teeth”?  Well that’s all Annabelle wants this year.  Or any teeth will do.  That’s right, she’s 10 months old and still has no teeth.  Not even a bump showing one may come in soon.

Annabelle had her first Thanksgiving.  She didn’t have turkey or pumpkin pie but she did enjoy some pears and mashed potatoes.  We also enjoyed watching the Cowboy's win.

The Saturday after Thanksgiving Mason’s Dad had a stroke while visiting the Kansas relatives.  Mason went out there that night and stayed for two weeks.  That meant a lot of Mommy and Me time!  Mason said he’s doing better.  He was completely paralyzed on his left side and is now having to go through rehabilitation to learn how to do things with his left side again.  Before Mason left he was able to see his Dad walk about 15 feet with the help of a walker, which is so good to hear.
I wanted to make sure we sent a BIG Thank You to everyone that helped us out.  Thanks to the Kansas family for picking Mason up from the Airport, giving him a place to stay and making sure he ate.  To the Grandma’s that came over and played with Annabelle while I went to work.  To all our family, friends and coworkers for the thoughts, prayers and support.   We are so thankful for you all!!!

Annabelle went to visit Santa after Daddy came home from Kansas.  She didn’t cry but she didn’t really smile either.  Daddy got her a shirt that said “It’s my first Christmas” but Santa’s hand covered it up in the picture.  Santa said Annabelle asked for a Maserati for Christmas.  I wonder if he’ll follow up with that gift request.

Annabelle went to her first music class last week.  She liked playing with the instruments and the little shakers.  She wasn’t a fan of the scarves we danced around with.  I think her favorite part of the class was watching the other kids.
The most recent thing Annabelle can do now is walk along things.  She’s been pulling herself up onto everything and she’s started taking a couple steps here and there.  There were a couple times where she let go and stood on her own for a few seconds.  I don’t think walking is too far away.  She also gets into everything!!! The stuff you tell her not to touch is what she’s most interested in.  I think we’re in for a fun ride!
That’s all we have for now.  We wish you all a very Merry Christmas!

9 Months Old

We had a fun Halloween this year.  The weekend before Halloween we carved our pumpkin.  It was actually a lot easier than I remembered.   Annabelle didn’t help much but I’m sure she'll have more fun with it next year.  Here's a cute picture of Annabelle sitting in her pumpkin.

We started celebrating Halloween a day early by trick-or-treating at all the Grandparents homes so they could see her in her costume.  She was the cutest little lamb I had ever seen.  She even said "Ba" for us a couple of times (not on queue though).  I sang to her “Mommy had a little lamb.”  I don’t think she thought it was as funny as I did though.

I can’t remember if I told you all that Annabelle can sit up on her own.  She’s been doing that for a while but last week she pulled herself up to standing.  She’s going to be running around this place in no time.
I know I’ve told you she’s been babbling saying Da-Da-Da, Ba-Ba-Ba, Ma-Ma-Ma etc.  But the last couple days she’s added some type of Asian language to her vocabulary.  I’m not exactly sure what she’s saying.  One thing she says sounds like Tickle-Tickle-Oh-Tickle-Tickle-To and another like Oh-Gi-Oh-Gi-Goo-Gi-Boo.  I’ve tried to get it on video but as soon as I pull out the camera, she stops.  Maybe it’s some type of top secret language that she doesn’t want recorded.
Anyway, I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving.  I know we have a lot more to be thankful for this year!!!
I’ll leave you with a picture of Annabelle and her best friend.  Enjoy!

8 Months Old

Annabelle was entered into a casting call for a baby shoe company but was disqualified for having too many votes.  I guess if a picture had more than a certain number of votes per minute, they automatically disqualify you.  Annabelle had over 19,000 votes by the time it was done.  That’s ok, she’s a winner in my book!  Thank you to everyone that went out and voted for her.

We got Annabelle’s 8 month pictures taken.  She was in a really bad mood that day but the photographers were great and still got some good shots.  It’s hard trying to figure out which pictures we're going to replace with the new ones.  Mason says “Why do we have to replace them, we’ll just get more picture frames.”  If we leave it up to him every square inch of our walls will be covered in Annabelle’s pictures.   :)

Annabelle is now saying “momomomomom” or just “MOM” sometimes.  I don’t think she understands I’m Mom yet but it’s really cool to hear.  She still says “da da da da da da” but now sometimes she says DOG!  I think she may even know what dog means because she looks right at Koden and yells DOG.
She’s getting so close to officially crawling.  She’s been able to get around for a while now by rolling and squirming but now she gets on all fours and pushes off with one knee.  Now she just needs to figure out how to get the other knee going at the same time. The video below was from a week or so ago and she has even improved her technique since then.

We are very excited for Annabelle’s first Halloween.  We got her a pumpkin last weekend that will be big enough for her to sit in.  We can’t wait to carve it with her.  It’s been so long since I’ve carved a pumpkin, I hope I didn’t forget how.

Hope everyone has a Happy and Safe Halloween!

7 Months Old

Annabelle went on her first plane ride this month.  Her Great Grandpa Walter turned 90 and we flew down to Florida to celebrate.  She did pretty well on the plane with the exception of not wanting to sit still and squirming all over the place.  We went to visit at the nursing home and took Annabelle around to meet all her Great Grandpa’s friends. She was called the “Therapy Baby” for the smiles she brought to the faces of all the residents there.

We took Annabelle to the beach but found that she was not a fan.  As soon as we stuck her feet in the water, she pulled her legs up and started screaming.  We laid her on a beach towel and she didn’t like that either.  Hopefully someday she’ll learn to like the beach.  I think she was just too little on this trip.  She did however enjoy the Merry Go Round.  Her Daddy held her on his lap and she clapped and smiled.

Annabelle was a perfect angel on our trip.  Even though we were off schedule with naps and feedings, she was really good.  We couldn’t count all the comments we got telling us “How lucky” we were and what a good baby she was.  Especially after she sat quietly through Sunday morning service at church.  That was very impressive.  I think she may have been showing off a bit.

We are now gearing up for Annabelle’s first Alzheimer’s walk this weekend.  We’re still looking for team members if anyone wants to join us.  We’re also looking for donations if you would like to contribute.  Our donation page is at…

Hope everyone is doing well and had a great summer!

½ a Year Old!

Wow, that went by really fast.  Annabelle is already 6 months old.  She isn’t quite crawling yet, but don’t let that fool you.  She can get around.  She will roll or squirm her way to where she wants to go.  I don’t think it will be long before she’s crawling.
Her cooing has now turned into babbling.  Most frequently she says “Da-da-da-da-da-da….”  Sometimes we may hear a Ba or Ka in there, but no Ma yet.  It’s so much fun to hear her little voice.  I can’t wait until she can speak a few words.
She’s also learned how to clap.  First it was with 2 closed fists, then it was one open hand and one closed fist, but now she can do it with two open hands and even make a slap sound sometimes.  It’s a lot of fun!
She also likes to pound her toys now.  She either knocks them together or will bang them onto other things such as the table, wall, chair, etc.  She will also bang them on you which can sometimes hurt if you’re not paying close attention.  She has got some strong arms.
Here are some pics since our last post.  Enjoy!

5 Months Old

Annabelle is growing so fast.  She is rolling over like crazy now.  I don’t think it will be too long before she’ll be crawling.  Here is a picture of our happy family!
She is a mover at night.  We put her in her crib facing one direction and she wakes up in a completely different direction.  Now that she’s rolling over a lot, she even sleeps on her tummy.  Here are some examples of how we’ve found her the next morning.

It’s so much fun watching her learn new things.  She's in love with our dog Koden.  She gets a really big smile on her face every time he walks by.  She also plays with her toys a lot more.  The other day she started passing toys from one hand to the other.  The most exciting thing she's learned is how to dance.  Last night she started dancing and it was SO cute.  I tried to get video of it, but as soon as I got the camera out, she would stop.  I was able to get a little bit of her dancing in the video below.  At least you can get an idea of what it looks like.  Enjoy!

4 Months Old

Annabelle is growing up so fast!  It’s amazing how much they learn from month to month.  Since the last blog, Annabelle has started rolling over.  At first she would roll from her belly to her back.  She hates being on her belly, so it’s no surprise.  A few nights ago though, she rolled from her back to her belly in the middle of the night.  She was not happy being on her belly and woke up screaming!

She had her 4 month appointment this month.  She weighed in at 13 lbs 9 oz and was 25 inches long.  She had a reaction to the shots and didn’t have a very good night.  It was a few hours after her shot when her leg got red, hot, and swollen.  She was screaming for a couple hours before the second dose of Tylenol the nurse told us to give her kicked in.  We felt SO bad for her.  We also felt bad for the visitors we had from Kansas that came all the way out here to see her.  (Sorry Don and Hazel!)

She recently started trying some foods.  So far she eats baby oatmeal and pears.  She LOVES the pears.  It’s cute when we feed her.  She’ll open her mouth really big for the next bite.  She tried green beans this last weekend and hated them!   She would gag, make funny faces and refuse to swallow.  If we mix pears in them though, she’ll eat them.

For Father’s day I took Annabelle to get her 4 month pictures taken. They turned out really good and I think Daddy and her Grandpa’s liked them.  I think you’ll like them too!  Enjoy!!!

3 Months Old!

We keep getting requests for updated pictures and updates on Annabelle, so by popular demand, the blog is back!

Annabelle is three months old already.  It’s amazing how much different she is now compared to when we first brought her home.  Her first 4 weeks home were hard.  It seemed like every time she was awake, she was crying.  Now she smiles and coo’s and we are loving it!  Here are some updated pictures, enjoy!

Welcome Annabelle!

After a very quick 9 or so months, our little bundle of joy is here.
We came to the hospital Thursday night to be induced.  They gave a medication to thin out the cervix and were going to do a medication to start the contractions Friday morning but didn’t need to since the contractions started on their own Thursday night.  Unfortunately she was not handling the contractions very well.  Her heart rate was dropping with every contraction so they decided that a c-section was needed.
Annabelle Rose Sargent was born February 4, 2011 at 10:00 am.  She weighed in at 7 pounds, 12.6 ounces and was 20 ¼ inches long.  She is doing really well.  We are just so in love with her!  We’re very tired since Annabelle hasn’t quite figured out her days and nights, but otherwise we’re all doing really well.
Here are some pictures of our adorable baby girl.

36 Weeks

That’s right, we are finishing up our 36th week!  Our appointments are now on a weekly basis as Annabelle’s due date gets closer.  It’s hard to believe that we’ll have a sweet little baby girl in our arms within the next month.  The doctor said she could come tomorrow or in three weeks, so we just need to be ready.
Annabelle got her first Christmas present even though she’s not even here yet.  She got a really cute doll.  I’m sure she’ll love it!
We had our last ultrasound today.  It’s so cool to see her cute little face.  I got a little worried when the ultrasound tech said her head was slightly above average.  I was hoping for an easy delivery but I’m now a little worried about her having a big head.  She also said Annabelle’s probably 6 pounds today and may be between 7-8 pounds if we go the full 40 weeks.  I may be screaming for the epidural sooner than I thought!  We’ll soon see.
Other than really bad heartburn (and boy have I felt the burn), I really have no complaints.  This has been a relatively easy pregnancy and I am so very thankful for that.  I’ve heard plenty of horror stories on how miserable pregnancy has been for some.  Other than a couple of off days, I’ve felt pretty good.
I’m putting together a phone tree.  If you want a call after Annabelle is here, please let me know and I’ll add you to the list.  Otherwise, I’ll make sure to update the blog!
It’s so hard to believe the next time we update our blog will probably be after Annabelle is here.  I’m so excited!!!   Until then, take care.
